When New Jersey business owners should update business plans

Businesses frequently run into new problems as well as opportunities, so sometimes it is a good idea to review an organization's policies and goals. It is not necessary to completely rewrite an existing business plan, but there may be areas where the process currently in place needs to be improved or changed.

Business structure options for New Jersey residents

If someone is considering opening a business, there are a variety of things to consider, including how they will structure their commercial endeavor. The different types of businesses include sole proprietorships and partnerships, limited liability companies and corporations. Each business entity offers its own benefits and drawbacks, and each category can affect how taxes are handled and the regulations it has to follow.

Business Logic to be paid $61 million for intellectual property

New Jersey residents may be interested in the outcome of an intellectual property dispute between Morningstar Inc. and Business Logic Holding Corp. Lawsuit filed over $66 million contract

A construction company based in the borough of Wood-Ridge filed a lawsuit in New Jersey on July 7 in an attempt to get the award for a $66 million contract overturned. The plaintiff claims that the winning bidder of the contract doesn't have the electrical subcontractor required to complete the project. The company claims that otherwise, it would have been the lowest bidder for building the new justice center. The project will be the largest in Bergen County history, totaling $147 million.

HP victorious after lawsuit is dismissed

New Jersey investors may have heard that Hewlett-Packard Co was victorious in a securities fraud lawsuit. The plaintiffs were led by Retail Wholesale & Department Store Union Local 338 Retirement Fund. None of the parties involved in the trial offered any comments on the dismissal of the case. The plaintiffs claimed that HP committed securities fraud by misleading its shareholders about the company's commitment to ethics while a chief executive was allegedly involved in a sexual harassment case.
